Final New Player Evaluations

5:00 - 6:00 pm -- All Ages

Please arrive at PISA at 4:30 pm to check-in, etc.

The FINAL New Player Evaluation session is being held in conjunction with the first Weekly Clinic at PISA. All new players who were not able to make it to the April 1 Evaluation must attend on April 8th in order to be placed on a team for the 2010 Season.

Player Evaluation Criteria

Skaters will be evaluated on various aspects of the following skills, to a maximum score of 150 points:

Skating Ability
Stickhandling Ability
Shooting Ability
Awareness/Sense of the Game
Competitiveness (e.g., communication, work ethic)
Toughness
Character (e.g., leadership, discipline)

Goaltenders will be evaluated on:

Skating ability
Technique/Crease position
Quickness/Lateral movement
Focus
Competitiveness (e.g., communication, work ethic)
Character (e.g., leadership, discipline)
How good they look chugging Gatorade

Players will also be evaluated in scrimmage or game situations to determine positional play.

Evaluations will be conducted by adults knowledgeable in the game of hockey, including head coaches, assistant coaches, the goalie coach and players and coaches from the Hartford Fireants. Final selections will be made by the Head Coach of each Travel Team in consultation with the other evaluators. Every effort will be made to provide a fair and consistent approach to the tryout process.

Announcement of Team Selection and Player Placements: All player placements will be posted to this 2010 Try-Outs page by April 11, 2010. No individual calls will be made to players.
